Neighborhood Info

This map shows street art, murals, and graffiti in Southwest Atlanta. The Southwest of Atlanta contains numerous communities including for example East Point, College Park, and Hapeville. Dwarf House, the very first Chick-fil-a restaurant is located in Hapeville. Hapeville is also home to a Porche assembly plant. The Hapeville Arts Alliance has been instrumental in making Hapeville a center for the arts. Although Hapeville has seen a lot of gentrification in recent years, it still maintains the historic character that makes it so attractive. In fact, the Hapeville Historic District is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. The most prominent feature of southwestern Atlanta is Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport, the world’s busiest airport.

Street Art in the Neighborhood

In recent years, the city of Hapeville has become a hot-spot for street art. While you are checking out the street art in Hapeville, there are are a couple of must-sees. Be sure to see the beautiful mural on the Hapeville City Hall by Charmaine Minniefield titled “Flowers Devine”. This work of street art honors Marjorie Prothro, first African American Business Owner of Hapeville. Also don’t miss the whimsical mural by Lotus Eaters Club titled “Lady of the Lotus Eaters” on South Central Avenue.

Yoyo Ferro’s building façade in College Park and Agostino Iacurci’s mural in Ben Hill are two more not-to-be-missed works of street art in the Southwest. The first portion of the Ralph David Abernathy Blvd. Tour is in Southwest Atlanta. If you have some extra time, you might want to check out the rest of the tour. The murals on RDA are not just beautiful, they also convey an inspirational and socially conscious message.
