Patricia Hernandez
May 24, 2026:
Patricia Hernandez is an Atlanta based self-taught multidisciplinary artist, muralist, curator, advocate for Latinx and BIPOC artists, immigrant, and mother of two boys. Hernandez came to Georgia with her mother at age 19 after completing one year of college in her native El Salvador. As a rebellious teenager moving into adulthood, Hernandez initially felt lost and had to learn an entirely new set of skills such as driving and speaking English to survive. Becoming a single mother at a young age taught Hernandez responsibility and inspired the hard work required to provide food and shelter and to raise her children to be good people.
Here’s how Hernandez describes her artwork on her website: “I create bold, emotionally grounded work through painting and public art. Using figurative forms, layered color, and symbolic elements, my work explores resilience, belonging, and connection. My visual language draws from my Salvadoran roots, Mexican aesthetics, and my children’s Puerto Rican heritage. I’m interested in how art can live in public space as a shared experience, offering moments of recognition and reflection across cultures and communities.”
In 2019, Hernandez founded Nuestra Creación – a non-profit Atlanta-based art curation and event organization collective – supporting and nurturing Latinix, and BIPOC (Black, Indigenous, People of Color) artists such as herself. Each year, Nuestra Creación presents a group exhibition of emerging Latinx artists during Latin Heritage month. The organization which serves 200 applicants per year has recently become a 501c3. Hernandez’s personal art brand is PATL.SV. The “PA” stands for Patricia, i.e., herself. The “ATL” stands for Atlanta, i.e., her present and future. The “SV” stands for El Salvador, i.e., her past and heritage.
Hernandez has partnered with organizations, events, and brands such as: Midtown Alliance, Fair Fight, Ser Familia, Living Walls, Stacks Squares Mural Project, Atlanta Crossroads Mural Festival, Atlanta Opera, Mailchimp and Emory Hospital. In addition to art her other interests include: salsa dancing, drinking mezcal, singing karaoke, tattooing and DJ-ing.
