Cameron Moore

January 3, 2023: Cameron Moore (who goes by Yoyocam) is a concept artist, character designer, prop designer, muralist, and game artist. His character focused artwork is always brightly colored and imbued with motion. Moore was born and raised in Atlanta and even after a good bit of traveling, has chosen to call Atlanta home. Cameron’s bread and butter is taking abstract concepts and turning them into tangible images.

Moore learned to draw even before he learned to write. As a kid, he was attracted to the characters in video games and on TV shows. He was even captivated by the personas he encountered on cereal boxes at the breakfast table and on billboards viewed from the window of his parents’ car. The young Moore desired a relationship with these characters and found that drawing them formed this connection. Cameron thought about and drew characters for hours both at home and at school. He was attracted to a group of creative classmates with whom he created comic books. Sometimes his clandestine sketching during class got him into hot water with his teachers.

The artist’s parents encouraged other activities in addition to art, but only art stuck with Cameron. As a teenager, Moore began to take his art more seriously. In 2016, he was given the opportunity to put on his own solo art show. This achievement caught the eye of his high school principal who asked Cameron to paint a mural for the school. At first, he was unsure of his ability to pull off such a task. But he took a leap of faith and has been painting murals ever since. The artist’s sources of inspiration include comic books, cartoons, and video games (especially Super Smash Bros.) Moore is also influenced by life’s experiences such as new places, new things, and new people. Cameron has collaborated with many members of Atlanta’s creative community. He learns from each relationship and incorporates this knowledge into his own work. On his website, Moore shares a bit of insight into his philosophy “I find that the best art doesn’t imitate life, but uses life as a base, while being fueled by the energy of what could be.”

He attributes his success to embracing the unknown, determination, work ethic, and good networking and business skills. In an interview with Shoutout Atlanta in December 2020, Cameron said the following: “It’s normal and even encouraged for people to have plans for their life and see them through. But I’ve learned that life is FULL of surprises, and some of the greatest things that have happened to me have come by either complete surprise, or by taking a leap of faith and seeing what happens.”

Moore is a graduate of SDAD and has a Bachelors degree in Design and Applied Arts from Kennesaw State University. He has painted over 100 murals in many cities in the US and overseas. Locally, Cameron has been a featured artist for Outer Space Project, Kirkwood Walls, Stacks Squares Mural Project, 44 Murals Project, and Forward Warrior.
